Why aren't you blogging???

At some point with doing this blog, I came up with an informal set of rules, one of which was to never write anything negative. It produced a big delay on my blogging as I sorted out what I was capable of saying about WAR, the Washington Area Roadskaters as a club, both positive and negative.

I enjoyed discovering the club. I enjoyed joining and contributing my time and resources as a board member. It was great fun promoting the club and rebuilding the membership records from scratch.

I also enjoyed leaving the club. It was very liberating. Now I can go skate and not have to worry about making all the people who kept placing their demands on me happy. My free time is finally my own again.

Wednesday Night Skate Experimental Night Shots

It's still before the switchover to daylight savings time so we're still skating in the dark on our night skates. It gave me a chance to experiment with taking some shots with my night time friendly digital camera. None of these photos involved using a flash.

It was a warm evening so we had a good eleven or so people show up. That's a nice change from a typical off season cold winter showing of about six skaters. Jubran led us on a great ad hoc skate. I hope I wasn't the person who was supposed to lead.

   The Adams Morgan-Catholic University Route

Here's a map of the route we took on the Wednesday Night Skate.

A lot of skaters have a GPS device with them. At the end of the skate, it gives them information on how far they skated, what their average spped was and such. After I'm done GPSing, I stick it all on the blog.

We meet and start next to the White House. On the map, at the end of the route, you can see the extra portion where we skated to the Froggy Bottom Pub for some post skating nourishment.
