   A quick Virginia Loop in February

The temperature was 65 at 7am -- in Feburary no less! By the time I was done it was 73 degrees. An hour later, it was raining and the temperature had dropped by 20 degrees. I'll take more days like that!

The Virginia loop follows the Custis Trail, to the Washington Old Dominion Trail, to the Four Mile Run Trail and back to DC via the Mount Vernon Trail.

   The Uber Andrew Quick Route

Head Skate Lead Andrew, a living encyclopedia of impromptu city skate routes in DC, took charge last Wednesday and led us on some hills and tunnels. Some of us lost him near Union Station and I think we cut the route a little short near the mall.

   The Low/High Route from the Wednesday Night Skate

First it was a calm trip along the Potomac then suddenly we were taking the most vertical possible route up through Georgetown. It's a shame the map doesn't show elevation -- for a while I thought that Andrej was trying to kill us. Fortunately, from the National Observatory area onward, we could glide our way downhill back to the Froggy Bottom Pub.
