   Trips I'm considering for 2005:

Every year there are two skate events that are a must: The Great Esskate in South Beach and the Philadelphia Freedom Skate. Beyond that, there are a lot of events worth doing. Here is a list of the ones that I'm considering.

The trips:

Disney Marathon, Orlando, FL, 5-1-05

Another race but imagine being able to go behind the scenes of a true mickey mouse operation and then to be able to compare it to where you work.

Philadelphia Freedom Skate, PA, (probably 6-24/26-05)

This event has so many things going for it: a great city to skate in, a great skate club to sponsor the event, three days of skating, 700 participants -- I've been doing it for so long that a year would not be complete without doing it again.

The Big Apple Roll, Manhattan 7-29/31-05

As if you need an excuse to go to Manhattan.

The Euroroll, France, Belgium, 8-3/14-05

The Pari Roller is just one of those events that you have to do at least once and the Euroroll gives you a good excuse to do it.

Festival de la Sante, Montreal, 9-11-05

French for Health Festival -- there's a 10km skate.

North Shore Inline Marathon, Duluth Minnesota, 9-17-05

It's got a big showing and ribs for food. You get a computer chip which enables you to start the race more like when you want (instead of waiting for a starting signal or something.) Applications due by 9/1/2005.

A2A, Athens to Atlanta, GA, 10-9-05

This is another one of those skates that you should do to be able to say you did it. And you're a baby unless you do the full 86 miles.

The Defi, Montreal, 10-15-05

Skate 128 kilometers around the peremiter of the island of Montreal. Unlike the A2A, there is no Georgia style humidity, which is a big plus. My only problem is that if you sneak into a paceline, they're likely to call out obstacles in French.

Poznan Maraton, Poland, 10-??-05

Poznan is a very skatable place. It has a sports complex with a lake to skate around and beer gardens along the bank. Add a pleasant skating community to it and it's like someone transported the best of skating in the US and left it there for you to find. With the old town nearby and a big event that enables you to skate everywhere and it's all good. Formerly, first time participants had their fees waived and you could sleep in the sports complex for free if you lacked the bucks for a hotel.

Pinellas Trail Skate, FL, 10-??-05

The Pinellas Trail is a 47 some odd mile rail to trail path which should make for a great skate and Byron, a Baltimore based skater claims that you get tons of swag for attending. Unfortunately I can't find any good info for it on the web. All I could find was this Indian, so I stuck him here. I did find a ton of skate groups in Florida, though.
